ENVE has just dropped their latest mountain bike wheel lineup, and it has set the bar pretty high. This will be the fifth generation of the M Series—a complete overhaul that’s been four years in the making. Whether you’re an XC racer or a ride with more of a downhill focus these wheels deliver ride quality, reliability, and durability that’ll keep you rolling, no matter what.

TLDR Summary: 2025 M series

All wheels come standard with the 80t ratchet installed, but you have the ability to customize your engagement to dial in the perfect ride feel.
Ride Experience like no other:
Front rims are engineered for traction and forgiveness, while rear rims focus on power transfer and toughness.
What’s New with the M series wheels?
So, what sets these wheels apart from any other wheel? ENVE’s signature front and rear rim shapes are back, but now with new carbon layups for better compliance and INNERDRIVE mountain hubs that up the ante on power transfer and reliability. All told, this series delivers next-level ride quality without sacrificing the toughness ENVE wheels are known for.

M5 Pro: Cross-country Race

M6: Trail and Light e-MTB

M8: Enduro and e-MTB

M9 Pro: Gravity and e-MTB
“With each new generation of M Series, we set objectives to improve upon the performance that the previous generation delivered,” said Jake Pantone, ENVE’s VP of Product. “The theme and focus of this new M Series is ride quality without sacrificing the foundation of reliability and toughness that the M Series wheel products are known for.”
What Makes These Wheels Different?
ENVE has really put an emphasis on tailoring wheels to specific disciplines. Each wheel in the series has a unique front and rear design, including rim shapes and carbon layups that work together to tailor the wheel specifically to the ride type. Here’s how:
- Front rims are built wider for increased traction and compliance. They offer more vertical and lateral flex, contouring to the trail to provide better vibration damping and comfort.
- Rear rims are stiffer for more efficient power transfer and impact resistance, giving you that confident, planted feel when you’re charging through rough sections.
By using shallower rim depths and external molded spoke holes, ENVE dialed in a pretty solid balance of compliance and strength.

Flat Resistance & Durability
Thanks to ENVE’s patented Protective Rim Strip and Wide Hookless Bead technology, pinch flats and rim damage are kept to a minimum. And don’t just take our word for it—the M8 and M9 wheels helped ENVE riders rack up over 19 World Cup downhill wins during development.

The Innerdrive hub advantage
The new INNERDRIVE mountain hubs are all about maximizing power transmission. The hubs come standard with an 80t ratchet (offering 4.5° of engagement), but can be customized with 40t, 60t, or 100t ratchets for the engagement you prefer.
Built with stainless steel bearings, these hubs are made to keep spinning smoothly in any conditions. The M5 and M6 models use straight-pull center lock hubs, while the M8 and M9 come with j-bend hub shells and your choice of center lock or 6-bolt options.

Pricing and Availability
While ENVE’s wheels are known for their precision and performance, they’ve made some changes behind the scenes to keep the costs down without sacrificing quality. By refining their manufacturing process—using new materials that eliminate extra labor—they’ve managed to make the M Series more affordable than the previous generation.
Oh, and they’re still handmade in Ogden, Utah. That attention to detail hasn’t changed.
