TLDR SUMMARY: 2025 XTR Groupset
Wireless Shifting
Shimano’s fastest and most reliable shifting to date, combined with a durable derailleur that has automatic impact resistance.
Powerful Braking
Upswept lever blades, 2 & 4 piston options and cross compatibility make for a brake setup perfect for you and your style of riding.
Adjustable Ergonomics
Adjustable dial reach on the brake levers combined with a shifter with short-stroke paddles and 4-way adjustability help anyone feel right at home.
Di2 gets even better
XTR is now a fully wireless Di2 platform. Shifting is smoother, faster, and better than ever. The new Shadow ES derailleur houses a shock-absorbing motor that resets itself automatically after an impact. Plus, the integration of (UDH) compatibility means it’ll absorb frame strikes and bounce back to true on its own.
For those chasing the cleanest cockpit possible, the wireless Di2 may be your answer. Add in solid pulleys, revised cage designs, and secure battery placement, and you’ve got a derailleur built to last.
Need options? There are three:
- Long cage (M9250 SGS): 10-51T cassette.
- Mid cage (M9250 GS): 9-45T.
- E-MTB specific (M9260): Wired directly to the e-bike battery and even shifts while coasting.

The new shimano XTR Shifter
Refined ergonomics make the M9250 shifter one of Shimano’s most customizable yet. Short-stroke paddles and 4-way adjustability help it feel right at home under any hand. The dual multi-shift functionality is back, and now there’s even a third button for on-the-fly micro-adjustments.
All of it is also fully programmable via Shimano’s mobile app.

the new shimano xtr crankset
Two crank options are available, each built with specific rider intent:
- FC-M9220: Trail & Enduro focused, with a thicker, enduro-specific axle.
- FC-M9200: Lightweight and narrow for XC speed seekers.
For both categories, there’s a crankset that delivers strength where you need it.

The new shimano XTr Brakes
Shimano nailed the braking component of the new groupset with a smart two-tier system:
- BL-M9200 (2-piston): Magnesium master cylinders, carbon levers — ultra-light and XC-ready.
- BL-M9220 (4-piston): Enduro & trail riding focused with upswept levers, tool-free reach adjust, and consistent modulation.
The best part? Calipers and levers are cross-compatible — mix and match to build the braking setup you want.

The new Shimano Xtr Wheelsets
Shimano’s new wheels roll on updated hubs with improved sealing and cartridge bearings — meaning longer life and less maintenance.
- M9200 (XC) : Ultra-light, ultra-strong and XC-ready.
- M9220 (Enduro & Trail): Enduro & trail riding focused, ready to smash.
And, they sound great.

Final Thoughts
The new Shimano XTR groupset is a full performance overhaul. Whether you’re fine-tuning your XC rocket ship or building an bike to race in your local enduro, this new platform delivers a level of refinement, strength, and customization that’s hard to beat.
