Primer incoming, we know everyone’s going to be excited about this bike.

Well, just looking at the all-new Santa Cruz Tallboy, you can see it’s changed quite a bit from the last iteration. We’d like to welcome 4-bar suspension to the Santa Cruz Pedal bike chat.

The Tallboy is a shop and customer favorite, and we were all wondering what Santa Cruz would do next to make it better. The new suspension tuning and 4-bar design make it so that the bike performs better under braking, it has low anti-squat to improve traction, and decreased progression to keep it supportive through the beginning of the travel.

Core Platform

  • CC Carbon fiber frame with 130mm of rear travel, designed around trail riding. (Think blurring the lines between the 5010 and previous Tallboy)
  • Designed to run a 140mm travel fork with 29″ wheels front and back. No mullets here.

Suspension & Components

  • Fork: Rockshox Pike
  • Shock: Rockshox Deluxe
  • Brakes: Starting with SRAM DB8s or SRAM Motive on higher-end builds.
  • Drivetrain: A good mix of options from both SRAM & Shimano here.
  • Wheels: Interestingly enough, all builds come with the alloy option of Reserves.

The stock build kits offered give this bike the ability to rip all over the mountain. Maintaining its lightweight, snappy feel, but giving it a bit more burliness for when things get spicy.
